ALDI shoppers in Queens will soon find a new addition to their neighborhood stores.
Beginning Friday, June 13, ALDI will begin offering beer, cider and ready-to-drink adult beverages at more than 30 locations across New York City, including two in Queens: 92-29 168th St. in Jamaica and 61-11 Junction Blvd. in Corona.
The rollout marks the first time ALDI stores in New York City will sell alcoholic beverages, aligning the local offerings with those already available at the retailer’s stores in other states.
Among the initial lineup of beverages hitting Queens shelves are seasonal and fruit-forward varieties, all priced under $15. Products include Wernesgruner Lemon Radler, Wicked Grove Blueberry Cider, Locken’s Tropical Pineapple Kölsch, Limaveza Lime Lager, and the All Play Margarita Variety Pack. The selection is part of ALDI’s private-label portfolio, which has gained a national following for combining quality and affordability.
Founded in Germany and now operating more than 2,400 stores in the U.S., ALDI has become a popular grocery destination in Queens since entering the New York City market in 2011. Known for its low prices, minimalist store layouts, and curated product selections. ALDI has steadily expanded its presence in working- and middle-class neighborhoods, offering a cost-conscious alternative in a city where grocery costs remain among the highest in the country.
Under New York State law, grocery stores may sell beer, cider, and certain pre-mixed wine or spirit-based beverages under specific licensing rules, but are barred from selling full-strength liquor and wine. ALDI’s new offerings comply with these regulations.
According to the National Beer Wholesalers Association, ready-to-drink beverages and flavored malt drinks are among the fastest-growing alcohol segments nationwide, especially among urban consumers seeking convenience and value.
Additional ALDI locations across the borough and the city are expected to introduce adult beverages later this summer. The company has not yet released a full list of participating stores.
