Motorcycle and SUV crash leaves two dead in Astoria

Police are investigating a motorcycle and car collision that left two people dead in Astoria.

According to the NYPD, on Saturday, at approximately 4:30 p.m., they responded to a call of a collision between a motorcycle and an SUV, a Nissan Xterra, at the intersection of 20th Avenue and 24th Street in Astoria. An initial police investigation determined the Nissan Xterra was traveling west bound on 20th Avenue when the driver decided to make a U-turn at 24th Street to go east bound and the motorcycle struck the vehicle.

Upon arrival, paramedics pronounced the driver of the motorcycle, a 32-year-old man, and the passenger of the motorcycle, an unidentified woman, dead at the scene. The driver of the SUV, a 56-year-old woman, was taken to Elmhurst Hospital where she is currently listed in stable condition.
