Renee Taylor, the TV mother of “The Nanny,” offers up “An Evening with Golda Meir” on several dates in January. She starts her national tour at the dinner theater, and captures the humor, pathos, and drama of the school teacher who entered the world stage as one of Israel's most memorable prime ministers.
Frank Gorshin and former Miss America Lee Meriwether star in “Play It Again Sam,” Woody Allen's homage to the ghost of Bogart, who rescues Gorshin from his pathetic problems with the opposite sex. Performances are in January and February.
Gabe Kaplan, who will never be forgotten as the teacher of the “sweat hogs” in “Welcome Back Kotter,” reprises the role as Groucho Marx, whom he first portrayed in an HBO special in the 1980s. Misty Rowe, from TV's “Happy Days,” plays his female foil. Performances are in February and March.
Concluding the tribute to Sid Caesar's Catskills style of comedy is “Laughter on the 23rd Floor,” which transports the audience to the early days of television as the day's comedy legends hammer out a script for a weekly live show on CBS.
