Oxygenated Water on Tap for Queens

His 80-year-old family business in Queens has entered the $5.2 billion bottled water market with the highly-oxygenated spring water called Oxygen8. The product received high marks in a study recently conducted at Mount Vernon Hospital.
It showed there is a "transient but significant increase in blood plasma free-oxygen that lasts over 10 minutes after ingestion of oxygen8. The studies will also look into the products value in circulating blood plasma to the lower legs of both healthy patients and those compromised by peripheral vascular disease."
The water bottles, test marketed for the past two years, are designed for use in the office setting and are available only in the tri-state area. The product is stored and delivered in three and five-gallon glass bottles and dispensed by the companys patented coolers.
One customer, The New York Jets has made Oxygen8 available to its players.
Oxygen8 is drawn from the Northern Catskill region.
"We find that the water gives a greater feeling of well being and energy," Schwartz said. Researchers at the Chronic Wound Treatment and Hyperbaric Center at Mount Vernon Hospital say evidence from their study backs up Schwartzs statement.
Glen J. Butler, a Hospital researcher, said a total of 24 tests were conducted over a 10-month period in Mount Vernon. He noted that the Jamaica firm did not fund the Hospital study.
The manufacturers of Oxygen8 own four main companies and employ 500 individuals. Their other products include milk, puddings and soy products.
