Tiger Mountain in Bronx offers family fun at zoo

Are you looking for somewhere to take the kids some weekend this month? No parent can turn down the opportunity to see some wildlife at the Bronx Zoo, home to the new Bengalese Tiger sanctuary, Tiger Mountain.

Amazing animals, inspiring exhibits, entertainment, crafts, and a terrific day out! Below are the July offerings that are sure to delight animal enthusiasts at the Bronx Zoo.

July 5 – 6

Spots and Stripes Forever

Meet some of the Bronx Zoo’s fabulous spotted and striped animals from peacocks to pythons to zebras this weekend and chat with the keepers who care for them. African music and dance by Harambee Dance Company, crafts, face-painting and storytelling add to the excitement.

July 12-13

Save the Tiger Weekend

Visit Tiger Mountain and discover the origins of these majestic cats. Russian music and dance performances by the Russian Ballet Troupe, face-painting, and crafts are all part of the fun. Let the Wildlife Theater Players entertain you and discover how you can make a difference in the future of tigers.

July 19 – 20

Lions, Tigers & Bears!

The Sixth Annual SPARKS Science Fair — What do lions, tigers, and bears have in common? Find out this weekend. African, Asian and Native American music and dance, crafts, Wildlife Jeopardy, plus tons of fun activities throughout the park.

Summer Nights featuring Tiger Mountain

Curious to see how Bronx Zoo tigers behave after regular zoo hours? Come see for yourself! The Bronx Zoo opens its gates for a summer’s evening for a special evening visit to the new Tiger Mountain exhibit, plus many other popular exhibits like Congo Gorilla Forest, the Children’s Zoo, the World of Reptiles, Monkey House, Butterfly Zone, and elephants.

A special sea lion feeding will be held at 7 p.m. Tiger Mask coloring for kids (5-7:30 p.m.) and face painting (5-7:30 p.m.) add to the fun.

Music performances will be held at 6 p.m. and 7 p.m. at Dancing Crane Pavilion. Musical performers include Harambee Dance Troupe on July 5, Russian Ballet Troupe on July 12, Win Gold with 50’s music on July 19, NY Chinese Folk Dance Company on July 26. Summer nights begin at 5 p.m. until 8 p.m. Special evening rates apply after 5 p.m. Admission does not include food.
