‘Families Helping Families’ At Parker

“Families Helping Families,” a joint project of Councilman David Weprin, Parker Jewish Institute, the Northeast Queens Jewish Community Council, the Samuel Field YM/YWHA and Metropolitan Council on Jewish Poverty, has collected a virtual mountain of clothing and toys to assist those displaced by recent natural disasters.
“The devastation from natural disasters has left thousands of families in need. They have been displaced from their homes, and may be facing the upcoming winter season without proper clothing,” said Weprin. “In addition, many youngsters will be saddened as they realize that this year’s holiday season may not bring the usual gifts from family. We’ve tried to brighten the holiday season through this clothing and toys drive, and we’re heartened by the tremendous response.”
Michael N. Rosenblut, President and CEO of Parker Jewish Institute, added that “our organizations are founded upon missions of caring and compassion, and ‘Families Helping Families’ is an extension of that mission.”
