During a walking tour Monday, Councilman Hiram Monserrate (D-Corona) encouraged business owners and employees operating in Willets Point to take a more active role in a city proposal to raze the 48-acre region and replace it with new development.
These business owners are looking at a future in Willets Point that does not include them,” Monserrate said. “With plans being considered at the highest level, we need to bring in the voices on the ground.”
The area known as the “Iron Triangle” is home to scores of auto repair and welding shops, and the city Economic Development Corporations is reviewing eight proposals for the land.
