The conviction ensures that justice has been done and that the defendant has been held accountable for a violent crime.”
The defendant has been identified as Terrance Litt, 63, of 14-93 Shore Parkway in Brooklyn. He was found guilty of sodomy in the first degree, robbery in the first degree, burglary in the second degree, aggravated sexual abuse in the second degree, sexual abuse in the first degree, assault in the second degree, criminal possession of a weapon in the fourth degree and criminal possession of stolen property in the fifth degree.
A jury of eight men and four women deliberated for two hours after a four-day trial and returned a verdict of guilty before Queens Supreme Court Justice Arthur J. Cooperman, who set a sentencing date of April 28. The defendant, who has been held without bail since his arrest on March 3, 2001, faces up to 50 years in prison.
Brown said that according to the trial testimony, at about 3:00 p.m. on March 3, 2001, the defendant entered the 22-year-old woman’s place of business on 41st Street in Sunnyside armed with a knife and forcibly sodomized the victim and robbed her of a watch before fleeing.
He was apprehended a short while later in the bathroom of a nearby fast food restaurant, where a knife was recovered. The victim suffered a fractured nose and contusions to the back of the head, as well as bruises and scrapes to her face and body.
