Meadowbrook Pointe Athletic Club & Spa Will Have 720 Homes

In July, the first owners of 720 new homes on Long Island will move into the most luxurious new residential community built exclusively for active adults with the opening of the Beechwood Homes’ Meadowbrook Pointe Athletic Club & Spa in Nassau County.
The 52-acre gated community provides the unique opportunity for residents to live in an area with other people who have similar interests, and it presents a number of amenities that will surely attract owners.
“There is really not a community like this anywhere in the Queens/Nassau area, and I felt there was a tremendous need that could give everyone the lifestyle they wanted,” said Michael Dubb, owner of Beechwood Homes. “This was really done so people could stay here [Queens/Nassau] and be close to their families, and so far it seems like we are right on target.”
Although there will be 720 new homes in the complex when the project is completed three years from now, 120 of the homes have been sold, and the new owners have come back with nothing but positive things to say.
“They are thrilled beyond anything they could have imagined,” Dubb said. “They are overjoyed with meeting their new neighbors and new friends and incredible excitement about their new lifestyle change.”
Dubb said that he believes that all of the homes will be sold within the next two years although the construction will not be completed for three years. He is extremely happy with the response they have received and interest they have garnered, and last weekend was the first weekend that they were able to display model homes.
“Once the models open, I think they are going to sell like crazy,” Dubb said.
The new homes are currently being built in three distinctive styles including townhouses, villa homes and condominium suites, each showcasing distinctive architecture. The homes start at about $500,000 and go up as high as $1.1 million. The homes offer 1,300 to 3,000 square feet of living area, and feature gourmet kitchens with cherry wood cabinetry and granite countertops, and elegant marble baths.
“We retained a national architect and really created different types of homes, and there is really something for everyone’s needs,” Dubb said.
One of the biggest draws for this new development will be all of the activities that residents can participate in without having to travel long distances. One of the areas generating the most excitement is a $12 million clubhouse and the many social and recreational opportunities it will provide.
The clubhouse boasts a full-service concierge service along with on-site, five-star amenities that cater to active adult leisure and recreation including a fitness center, salon and spa, indoor and outdoor pools, theater, social club and grand ballroom, card room, library and more. In addition, the clubhouse will also contain a sports lounge for all of the residents to enjoy.
“It will have large TVs for sporting events, and sporting events broadcast from around the country,” Dubb said.
In addition to all of the clubhouse features, one of the biggest draws to this complex is that it offers something for all types of people. Whether you are an active adult, a person with a home in Florida looking to avoid the heat during the summer or families looking to settle down in a community, there is something for everyone.
Construction on the 25,000 square foot clubhouse is currently underway and the developers are optimistic that the site will open in December of 2006.
The site of the new development is on what was formerly Roosevelt Raceway, which opened in 1940 and could easily accommodate 25,000 to 30,000 spectators for horse races.
“When we set about to get our approval to develop this project, one of goals was to maintain the importance of the site in Long Island history,” Dubb said. In keeping with the goal, many of the features around the site will feature elements that recall the ‘glory days of the racetrack’ including a museum that will be devoted to the racetrack inside the clubhouse.
Construction on the new homes began last September, and the first homes are expected to open sometime this July.
“The progress that we have made in the past eight or nine months is mind boggling,” Dubb said.
For additional convenience, Meadowbrook Pointe’s community conveniently adjoins the fine shopping and dining of Garden City, and is only a short drive from the famed Miracle Mile in Manhasset.
