Carjacker Nearly Kidnaps Girl

A carjacker allegedly tried to steal a taxicab in Jamaica Hills on June 10. The cab had a 13-year-old girl inside.
According to police, the cab driver left his cab — with the engine running and his niece inside — at 165th Street and Hillside Avenue. The carjacker then allegedly got into the cab and drove off, going only five blocks before hitting two other vehicles.
The suspect then allegedly got out of the cab, got into a gray Chevy Cavalier and sped off.
No one was hurt in the incident.
