Senator Serphin R. Maltese honored seven women with a “Women of Distinction” award for the 15th Senatorial District at a special reception at Christ the King Regional High School.
This year’s honorees included Ida Borriello, a member of the Rosedale Civic Organization; Kay Carpenter, a community activist involved with Friends of the Richmond Hill Library; Queens Commissioner for Parks and Recreation Dorothy Lewandowski; community activist Dolores Maddis; Chief Officer of the Maple Grove Cemetery Linda Mayo-Perez; Karyn Petersen, District Manager of Community Board 10 and Stephanie Zgaljic, who works with disabled people.
“There are so many talented, dedicated and hardworking women in Queens County, and we often take for granted their contributions,” Maltese said. “This program gives us the opportunity to acknowledge and thank them for their countless contributions and sacrifices.”
Senator Maltese sponsored the special breakfast to recognize the distinguished women and presented them with special Senate certificates of merit and proclamations honoring them and their contributions.
