Andrew Hollweck
Government Relations
New Member, Community Board 6
Forest Hills
FAMILY: He and his wife Bomi Kim have been married for three years.
Proudest Moment: When I moved to France. I had gone there on a trip and fell in love. I moved there from 1999 to 2000. I learned a lot about other people, cultures, the world. It made me look outside my neck of the woods and showed me what I can do when I put my mind to it.”
CAREER GOAL: Hollweck works for the City of New York as a government relations liaison. I do a lot of work in Queens,” he said. It’s a great place. There’s always somewhere to go, something new. I love to go to Flushing Meadows-Corona Park.” As far as the future, he said, I’d like to stay involved in government and help the city – make a contribution to the people. At least 90 percent of the people I work with really care about making life better. It’s a noble goal I share with them and the people on the Community Board.”
Fondest Memory: Getting married.”
INSPIRATION: My grandmother Selma, who is 85 and still really involved in her community of Beechhurst.” Hollweck feels he gets his sense of civic duty from her. “She makes it seem like fun,” he said.
BIGGEST CHALLENGE: I sit on the board of the New Land Community Center in Ridgewood. It’s a small social service organization with a great board. I’d like to bring it to the fore and see it function at a higher level.”
