CAMPAIGN 2006 Pirro in Attorney General race

With 30 years of law enforcement experience as a prosecutor, district attorney and judge, Jeanine Pirro is looking to become New York State's next Attorney General as she will be the Republican nominee come November.
As a young prosecutor, Pirro led one of the first domestic violence units in 1978 and later became the first female District Attorney for Westchester County, NY in 1993 where she developed a reputation for being tough on child abuse cases as well as elder and sex crimes.
I have not just the experience and qualifications, but I have been an agent for change,” Pirro said. &#8220My experience spans everything from economic crime, violent crime, crimes involving children and seniors.”
While it appears certain that Pirro will be the Republican nominee for Attorney General, it is still not clear who her Democratic opponent will be, although Andrew Cuomo and Mark Green are currently running one and two in the polls respectively.
&#8220It doesn't matter who wins this primary because none of them have the experience that comes anywhere near mine,” Pirro said.
As Westchester DA, Pirro created a High Technology Crimes bureau that attracted nationwide attention for developing Internet pedophile stings and nabbing 100 pedophiles, which she prosecuted with a 100 percent conviction rate.
In addition, she believes her 30 years of prosecuting criminals should be what people look at when deciding who to vote for come November.
&#8220I think the most important issue for the people of New York is protecting their pocketbooks and families,” Pirro said. I ran a large legal office in a non-partisan way. Enforcement of the law is not about politics.”
If elected, Pirro said two of her focuses would include Medicare fraud, which she believes is causing substantial property tax increases for millions of New Yorkers, as well as environmental crimes.
&#8220I understand that the buck stops with me, and all this finger pointing going on in Albany is hogwash,” Pirro said.
