For the third consecutive year, Queens will host Restaurant Week, sponsored by Discover Queens and the Queens Economic Development Corporation (QEDC). Over 80 restaurants throughout the borough are expected to offer three-course meals for $19.86 - commemorating the 20th anniversary of the New York Mets 1986 world championship - from September 18 through September 28.
“We are celebrating their accomplishment,” said Michelle Soddart, director of marketing and tourism for QEDC. “And we are happy they are a part of [Restaurant Week] this year because they are number one and are bringing a lot of good will to Queens.”
The official list and other special offers will be officially announced on August 15. The Riverview Restaurant and Sanford Restaurant in Long Island City; J & B Lobster King and Kyoto Japanese and Thai Restaurant of Flushing; O'Lavrador in Jamaica; and Cold Stone Creamery in Forest Hills have confirmed their participation.
This year's Restaurant Week is actually a week longer than the previous two because of increased interest. “The restaurants requested we extend it because they were getting good feedback from their customers,” Soddart said.
The launching of the week will be held September 18 at Queens Borough Hall, located at 120-55 Queens Boulevard in Kew Gardens.
