SUCCESS STORY – JUST DO IT! An interview with Joe Nunziata

Upon taking a closer look at Joe Nunziata's latest book, Spiritual Selling, I soon found his writing was not only a radical departure from conventional notions of business management, but a guide to how to incorporate a more humane approach that can turn it into a healthy spiritual practice.
It also had intriguing implications for our exploration of the relationship between enlightenment and success. For in what may be a completely unique marriage of these two divergent approaches to transformation, Nunziata's book makes the claim that through the exertion of will, self-discipline and a one-pointed focus on action, your business can be a success.
And yet, why did Nunziata go from helping himself in business to helping others and also writing a number of books (i.e., No More Mental Barriers and No More 9 to 5)?
&#8220I went through two bankruptcies by the time I was 30,” said Nunziata. &#8220As I started to learn why these things were happening, I felt compelled to share the information with others. I wanted to help people avoid the mistakes I had made.”
Spiritual Selling is the perfect book for someone who has struggled in business. Nunziata combines spiritual principles with proven sales tactics. Nunziata calls this the &#8220sales attractor” method.
&#8220My first book, No More 9 to 5, was designed to give people who hated their jobs hope. I wanted them to know they could start a business and keep their job. I did both for almost nine years before going out on my own,” said Nunziata. &#8220Spiritual Selling was inspired by my own spiritual journey. I wanted to show people that you can be successful financially and still remain true to your spirit.”
Nunziata, an entrepreneur, spiritual teacher and author, has over 20 years of sales experience. His Attractor Sales System method is designed to educate businesspeople on how to create a system that will generate growing revenue in the future.
The creator of these principles plans to spread his message so others can apply his lessons on how to sell their product or service.
&#8220I am currently writing a new, expanded edition, of Spiritual Selling for Wiley & Sons Publishing,” said Nunziata. &#8220We are planning a July release. My next project is the Spiritual Success Kit.
In 1992, Nunziata inaugurated Top Notch Training as a personal growth and business development company. Top Notch Training offers consulting, training and public seminars.
A proactive motivator, when Nunziata was asked about coping with exhaustion, he responded: &#8220Exhaustion comes, in most cases, when people are feeling resistance. Most people are doing work they do not like. This places them in an immediate state of resistance which is very draining to your energy.
&#8220When you are doing what you love you feel energized. I do more than most people and rarely feel tired. When I start to feel overtaxed, I take a few days off to recharge. Being nice to yourself is very important in business and life.”
Since 1992, Nunziata has spent his life traveling and spreading his message to individuals and businesses. He truly enjoys speaking and writing in order to serve others. Yet, he had mentors that guided him along the way.
&#8220I really like Jeff Bezos from Amazon. He is always concerned about the customer first. The same can be said for David Neeleman of Jet Blue. These guys are running on spiritual principles,” explained Nunziata. &#8220In spirituality? My first inspiration was John Bradshaw, Homecoming. I watched him one day on a PBS marathon and knew what I wanted to do with my life. Wayne Dyer is another favorite.”
A firm believer in meditating, Nunziata says he uses it to stimulate his mind.
&#8220Meditation is one of the keys to connecting to your higher power and unlimited potential,” said Nunziata. &#8220It is very important to make quiet time for yourself. When you are quiet, you are allowing the universe to send you the answers you seek.”
For over 25 years, Nunziata has been working in the areas of personal development and human potential. His unique blend of psychology, philosophy, spirituality and the power of energy is designed to foster a new way of thinking in business and life.
&#8220In the world of spirituality there are no absolutes. There is no such thing as good or bad, better or worse,” said Nunziata. &#8220The key to success is feeling joy. When you are feeling joyful about your work nothing else matters. Money and opportunities simply come to you because you are vibrating joyful energy.”
On his passion for being a teacher, lecturer and workshop leader, Nunziata says, &#8220People have been conditioned to believe they must take action to achieve a goal. If something does not work, we are told to try harder. The key to successful change is based on making internal changes in your beliefs and feelings. This changes your vibration of energy which creates different results.”
As far as his own moodiness goes, Nunziata reveals, &#8220Oh yes, after my second bankruptcy I was at an all-time low. I had just gotten married and was flat broke. It was an effort just to get out of bed. Every self-made person has experienced some form of depression.”
How did Nunziata overcome this bout with depression?
&#8220Accepting failure is the first step in the healing process,” said Nunziata. &#8220You have to admit you failed and feel the feeling. When you try to ignore it or make believe it didn’t happen you make it worse. Any setback takes time to recover from and I was forced to learn patience in the process.”
On fear: &#8220Fear is a natural part of life. I embraced the fear. Trying to ignore fear is a huge mistake. We all have it.”
For people who have just started to participate in the working world Nunziata offers this advice to deal with their fears: &#8220Be yourself! Do not try to be different because you think that is what people want. You are always at your best when you are in your truth.”
Nunziata explains, &#8220I have always been very disciplined and committed to whatever I was doing. Discipline is a matter of consistency. When you are consistent, you develop good habits. If you find you are always forcing yourself to move forward there is a problem. In this case, you are probably doing something you do not like. It may be time for a change in career or a new work environment.”
Nunziata, what Dan Millman would call an authentic peaceful warrior, concluded his interview with The Queens Courier by stating; &#8220I encourage everyone I meet to be open to things they cannot see. When people judge, they are shutting down their energy. Challenge your belief system and do not be afraid to make changes. Life is meant to be exciting and fun. Tapping into your true joy and purpose is the real key to a happy life.”
