Assembly honors subway hero

State Assemblymember Ellen Young joined with Assemblymember Keith Wright in Albany on January 16 to issue a proclamation honoring the valiant actions of Wesley Autrey, the heroic New Yorker who pinned a 20-year-old student who suffered a seizure in a small space between the tracks as the subway passed over both of them. The Assembly also issued a resolution honoring him last week.
She also called on the MTA to be more diligent in protecting the safety and well-being of every New Yorker. “We need to explore what options are available to prevent these types of near tragedies from occurring. While this was a close call, it could have been a tragic end,” she said.
