Honoring A Legend

State Senator Serphin Maltese finds a gap in Sunday’s torrential rains to place a floral tribute at the grave of Major League Baseball great Jackie Robinson on the 60th anniversary of the day he broke baseball’s color barrier, April 15, 1947.
The resting place is in Cypress Hills Cemetery, overlooking nearby Jackie Robinson Parkway. Ten years ago, Maltese sponsored the legislation which renamed the Interboro Parkway after the Hall-of Fame second baseman for the Brooklyn Dodgers.
