Scout achieves highest rank

State Senator Frank Padavan (center) congratulates new Eagle Scout Patrick Turck of Boy Scout Troop 589. The “Honor Court” ceremony was held at the St. Andrew Avellino School in Flushing on Saturday, June 23. His parents, Michael and Moira Turck (at left) smile proudly.
Turck, who received the Senate Medal of Achievement and a Certificate of Merit from Padavan, wears the sash of the Order of the Arrow, the honor society of the Boy Scouts of America.
Also raised to Eagle Scout was Emmett McDermott, who was unable to attend. His parents (at right) Anne and Brendan McDermott accepted the honors on his behalf.
