Summer fun for kids

School is out and fun is in with the 2007 Summer Fun Children’s Series hosted by the Central Astoria Local Development Coalition.
For five weeks, from July 10 to August 8, free shows for children will be given on Tuesdays at Athens Square Park and again on Wednesdays at Dutch Kills Playground, both at 10:30 a.m.
On Tuesday, July 10, “Feraba - African Rhythm Tap” kicks off the Children’s Series that morning at Athens Square Park. An award-winning dance company, Feraba brings together traditional tap dance with the sounds of West African instruments, and delivers a high-energy performance to captivate and astonish.
Feraba is just one of the many performers consistently impress audiences. Not only will there be dance, but also theatre, music, storytelling, and puppetry.
In the past, children have greatly enjoyed the programs, and this year promises to be no different. For a full schedule, directions or more information contact the Coalition at 718-728-7820 or visit their website www.centralastoria.org.
