Homecoming to celebrate Queens College 70th

Queens College will be welcoming back its alumni for homecoming weekend and the celebration of the institution’s 70th anniversary on September 15, 16 and 17.
The festivities will kick-off at 8 p.m. on Saturday, September 15 with “An Evening with Michael Amante and Orchestra.” The concert will take place in Colden Auditorium.
The cost of orchestra seats for the concert for millennium graduates and alumni weekend attendees is $35, which includes a post-concert reception. For alumni who want to attend the concert only, orchestra tickets are $38 and mezzanine tickets are $32.
On Sunday, September 16, following registration, brunch and speeches from Alumni Affairs Director Nancy W. Rudolph and Queens College President James Muyskens, homecoming attendees will have several afternoon activities to choose from.
Following the activities on Sunday, at 3 p.m. there will be receptions and group photos for the classes of 1947, 1957 and 1982, which are being recognized during this year’s homecoming.
The Homecoming 2007 festivities will finish on Monday, September 17 with the Second Annual Golf & Tennis Classic, which will benefit the Queens College Foundation.
“I would love to see 150 (or) 200 people come pack to campus,” Rudolph said, adding that she encourages people to come and that it is going to be a great event.
RSVPs for homecoming are due by Monday, September 10. The cost per person to attend Sunday’s activities, which includes the brunch, seminar, soccer game, musical presentation, tours, reunion receptions, exhibits and the closing ceremony is $35. The special weekend package, which includes the concert, reception and homecoming, costs $60 per person.
Due to Queens College’s relationship with Wingate Inn & Suites in Flushing, the school’s alums can receive a discounted rate when staying there while attending homecoming.
