OK credit cards at LIRR ticket windows

Don’t have enough cash for your ticket and your train is arriving in two minutes? Now, Long Island Rail Road (LIRR) customers no longer have to worry about hunting for an ATM or missing a train since ticket windows now accept all major credit and debit cards for ticket purchases.
“It is important for our customers to have choices when it comes to buying LIRR tickets,” said LIRR President Helena Williams.
The railroad made the decision to accept credit and debit cards at all ticket windows primarily because at ticket machines, nearly 78 percent of sales are through credit cards.
“The reaction from our customers has been very positive,” said LIRR spokesperson Sam Zambuto.
In addition, the LIRR is currently installing 15 new credit/debit card-only machines at various LIRR stations including Penn Station, Babylon, Bayside, Flatbush Avenue, Freeport, Great Neck, Manhasset, Mineola, Rockville Centre, Valley Stream, and Woodside.
