Where you can bowl with - and like - the pros

Have you ever wanted to bowl with the pros? At the grand opening of Dani’s Strike Zone in Elmont on Friday, August 31, that dream can become a reality.
“We’ll have professional bowlers at our opening,” said Diane “Dani” Horowitz, owner of the new bowling alley.
To celebrate its new location in the Elmont shopping center, Horowitz arranged for Norm Duke, Brian Voss and Bob Learn, Jr. of the Professional Bowling Association (PBA) to host a clinic at 2:30 p.m. for juniors $45 (check-in at 1:30 p.m.) and 6 p.m. for adults $65 (check-in at 5 p.m.). A trick shot exhibition starts at 9:30 p.m. (with check-in at 5 p.m.), and half the $10 door charge will be donated to a charitable organization.
For those not familiar with the athletes, Duke has won 23 PBA tour events, and Voss has won 24 tournaments, while Learn is a five-time PBA titlist and certified bowling coach.
Part of the United States Bowling Congress’ traveling clinic, Dani’s Strike Zone will allow bowlers to get personal, one-on-one instruction from top professionals and coaches in the game.
For those who are beginners or more interested in other activities, Horowitz said bowling is just one of the things to do at the new location.
“For kids we have an arcade and bumper bowling and for adults we have games and a bar,” she said.
Though the grand opening event is open to the public, Horowitz said that registration is necessary because the special clinic has limited spots.
If not able to attend the grand opening, Horowitz invites everyone to bowl at Dani’s Strike Zone.
“I wanted to have a place that was not only for family fun, but was for people of all ages and was affordable,” she said.
