Comrie, Smith Tour Local Apprenticeship Training Program

Councilmember Leroy Comrie (3rd left) and State Senator Malcolm Smith (4th right) recently paid a visit to the Nicholas Maldarelli Apprentice Training Center in Jamaica to meet with participants in the apprenticeship program of Local Union 28 of the Sheet Metal Workers International Association. Both Queens elected officials toured the facility and offered words of encouragement to the young men enrolled in the program. The Jamaica Avenue-based center provides basic training in blueprint reading, computer drafting, duct erecting, hoisting & rigging, welding and other industry-related work.
