Donald Paul Radenberg

Donald Paul Radenberg, founding member of the Flushing Community Volunteer Ambulance Corps, passed away on Friday, January 25 after a long illness. A life-long resident of northeast Queens, Radenberg was 69 years old.
Ever civic minded, Radenberg was the chairman of District 18 in the New York State Volunteer Ambulance & Rescue Association, as well as a councilmember for the Regional Emergency Medical Service Council, and active vice chair for the Board of Directors of the Flushing Ambulance Corps.
“[He was] truly concerned about the community and gave himself to the community for over 30 years,” said Eugene Fischer, a Whitestone paramedic.
“He lived for the Corps,” recalled Paul Singleman of the College Point Community Ambulance Corps. “He always offered his help to the new guys. He was a good man.”
Joe DiBenedetto, who knew Radenberg for 39 years, recalled him as a soft-spoken man committed to his community and various causes.
DiBenedetto said that Flushing Corps’ new building may be dedicated in his memory — and that of his late brother Robert, also an active member.
Radenberg is survived by a brother, Thomas; wife; two children; and 3 grandchildren.
Arrangements were handled by the Martin A. Gleason Funeral Home in Bayside. A funeral Mass was held at St. Robert Bellarmine R.C. Church. Interment was at Mt. St. Mary Cemetery.
