Wife who shot ex-cop husband due in court

A defense attorney for Barbara Sheehan, the Howard Beach woman who admitted to fatally shooting her ex-cop husband, Sergeant Raymond Sheehan, 49, in the back in their home as he shaved, will go before a judge on Wednesday, February 27.
Michael Dowd, well known for defending victims of domestic violence who kill their alleged abusers, will attend a bail bond hearing before Judge John Latella in an attempt to get Barbara, 46, out on bail.
Currently being held at Riker’s Island, she told cops, “I shot him! I shot him! I think he is dead. He’s in the bathroom,” when they responded to the home at 99-08 158th Avenue on Monday, February 18.
Years of alleged abuse allegedly caused her to snap and fire 11 rounds into his back as he shaved, hitting major organs, according to a medical examiner.
She was arraigned on Tuesday, February 19 on charges of second-degree murder and criminal possession of a weapon in the second and the fourth degrees.
A funeral was held for Sheehan on Saturday, February 23.
