Vice President of Enrollment Management at Briarcliffe College
With more than 30 years of experience in higher education, Alan Shikowitz has joined Briarcliffe College as Vice President of Enrollment Management, a newly-created position.
Shikowitz’ responsibilities include overseeing the college’s marketing efforts, admissions development, tuition planning for new students, and the training of personnel in new products and trends relative to student enrollment.
“I’m thrilled to be here,” Shikowitz said. “I’m excited about the opportunity that I have, and I am very optimistic about the future of Briarcliffe.”
Briarcliffe has three campuses in Bethpage, Patchogue, and a recently-added site in Long Island City. Shikowitz’ position extends to all of the campuses.
“Our new Queens location will help serve college-bound students in Queens and the other boroughs,” Shikowitz said. “We have new programs and a lot of energy from faculty and staff.”
Previously, Shikowitz was the president of Lehigh Valley College in Pennsylvania. He has held executive positions at the Cittone Institute, The Chubb Institute, Manhattan Technical Institute, and S.C.S. Business and Technical Institute.
“Our vision for the decade ahead includes the expanded presence of Briarcliffe College, the addition of new degree programs, and an engaged student body,” stated Dr. George Santiago, Jr., President of Briarcliffe College. “Alan Shikowitz brings an impressive 30-year career in school operations and management consistent with these goals.”
Shikowitz said he knew he wanted to work in education since 1977, when he started out as a teacher in the South Bronx. “It’s a way for someone to change a life,” he said.
A Bronx native, Shikowitz holds a B.A. in Accounting and Business Practice from Herbert H. Lehman College.
