Wild winds whipped willows

A huge tree crushed several cars in Corona after it toppled over at the corner of 107th Street and 37th Drive on Wednesday, March 5. One neighbor said he heard a loud boom at about 5 a.m. and thought a car had crashed into his stepfather’s van. At noon, workers were still trying to restore utilities to homes along the block because the tree’s roots had been wrapped up with a gas line under the street.
