Celebrating Asian Pacific-American Heritage Month: Indian Film Screening and Discussion Enjoy a film screening of “The Namesake,” an ambitious exploration of the immigrant experience based on the same-named book by Jhumpa Lahiri. Sharon Katz and The Peace Train South African singer/guitarist/composer Sharon Katz founded The Peace Train Project and led a tour of hundreds of musicians, singers and dancers around South Africa by train in 1993. This historic project and musical production – a major attempt at uniting people of all different races in the new South Africa after the end of apartheid – continues its travels across America and around the world.

Crossing the BLVD.: Strangers, Neighbors, Aliens in a New America The exhibit shares the perspectives of dozens of foreign-born people who have settled in turn-of-the-21st-century Queens, the most ethnically diverse country in the US. The exhibit also features an interactive component, a story booth where museum visitors may contribute their own photos and family sagas to the project, or access its electronic archive.

475 KENT Lives A thriving arts community, 475 Kent Avenue is home to over 200 artists, curators, musicians and other creative professionals who are at the heart of the city's creative pulse. 475 KENT Lives, is a group exhibition of 23 artists at the Bulova Corporate Center celebrates the vital contributions of these artists as they battle to return to their homes and workplaces while calling attention to the increasing vulnerability of New York's creative communities.
