Hundreds of bicyclists assembled at the Queens Museum of Art (QMA) in Flushing Meadows Corona Park, for the first-ever Tour de Queens.
The 20-mile trek, hosted by Transportation Alternatives and sponsored by Queens Borough President Helen Marshall, QMA and Tom Cat Bakery of Long Island City, took cyclists on a “mostly flat” route through several neighborhoods before culminating back in the park.
This first annual tour, on Sunday, June 8, was limited to 500 cyclists and despite the blistering temperatures predicted for the day, it was fully subscribed, according to organizers.
