Man breaks windows ‘to avoid killing’ woman: DA

LONG ISLAND CITY — Police in the 114th Precinct arrested a Long Island City man after he punched a woman in the face and smashed a number of windows, the Queens district attorney's office said.

On July 6, at 3 p.m., Antonio Coloma, 52, punched a woman in the face at a public storage business at 41-02 Northern Blvd., according to a criminal complaint filed by the Queens DA.

When police arrived at the scene, they found four broken windows at the storage facility and two broken windows on a truck parked there, the complaint said. They encountered Coloma, who was wielding a lead pipe and told officers he smashed the windows instead of killing the woman, the complaint said.

Coloma was arrested on suspicion of assault, criminal mischief, criminal weapons possession and harassment. He was arraigned July 8 and ordered held pending a psychological examination. His next court date is July 22.
