Hearing Center Sponsors Essay Contest

The Advanced Hearing Center, which has a location in the arcade of North Shore Towers, is sponsoring an essay contest to encourage seniors to share their stories of overcoming hearing loss.
“This creative project will give seniors a chance to speak out and help others so they don’t feel isolated with their hearing loss,” said Dr. Alison Hoffmann, an audiologist and co-owner of Advanced Hearing Center. “It will also inspire current hearing aid users to consider sharing their positive experiences with others so they might seek help for their potential loss.”
The topic for the essay contest is “Coping With and Overcoming Hearing Loss.” The contest is open to seniors living on Long Island and in Queens.
The winner of the essay will receive a $250 cash prize. A matching gift will also be given to the senior center of the winner’s choice.
There will also be a reception for the winner and senior center held by Advanced Hearing Center, which has an additional location in Albertson.
Essays should be around 300 words in length and must be received by September 15, with the winner notified on September 30.
Submissions can be mailed to Dr. Alison Hoffmann, Advanced Hearing Center, 1176 Willis Avenue, Albertson, NY 11507. Submissions must also include the individual’s name, address, phone number, age and the name and location of their senior center of choice.
For more information, Advanced Hearing Center can be contacted by calling 516-484-0811.
