Towers Launches New Website

North Shore Towers has launched its new website, which will look to attract more people to the co-op while also being a valuable tool in keeping residents informed.
Under the leadership of Board member Phyllis Goldstein, creating a new website was one of the major goals of the Public Relations and Marketing committee during the previous year. Knowing the amount of people using the Internet it was decided that an improved website that could better spread the word about the Towers was needed.
“The audience we want to reach, the baby boomers, utilize the Internet for information and we thought it was very important to get a new website up there for them,” Goldstein said.
In the beginning stages, Goldstein said that her committee spent a great deal of time looking at other websites to see how other communities promoted themselves and what elements would be desirable for the North Shore Towers website. The initial list of potential site developers began at 30 and was whittled down to five.
Although a developer was selected, when the company sent over a demo page it was not what the committee wanted. When Goldstein was told it would not be possible to speak with the actual developer because they were in India, they stopped working with the company.
Instead, Goldstein and the committee turned to Towers resident Bernie Furshpan, a website developer who Goldstein had screened last April. Goldstein said that the goal was to create a website that was different, upscale and elegant.
She said that she and the committee are “very, very happy with the product.” The website, www.northshoretowers.com, describes the cooperative as “a community nestled in a stunning environment with spectacular views.” It has various tabs that detail all that North Shore Towers has to offer.
Under “Country Club,” site visitors can learn about golf, tennis, the pool, fitness center and fitness classes. The amenities section highlights the shopping arcade, restaurant, movie theatre, location and security.
Referring to the Towers as “a city within a city” under its lifestyle area, there is information about the area shopping and restaurants and special events. Views, floor plans, and the history of the surrounding communities can be found under the “apartments” tab.
Along with being able to find contact information on the website, visitors can also download a press kit about North Shore Towers.
Goldstein said that they are still tweaking the website. They also can get an analysis of how many hits the site is getting and which pages are being visited more. She said that based on the information more changes might be made if necessary.
Potential Towers residents are not the only ones who will benefit from the website. There is a resident login for current members of the community. After logging in, they can access golf times, tennis times, the monthly calendar of events, the aerobics schedule, movie times, house rules and a list of important numbers. Goldstein said that more documents may be posted and, for the snowbirds, videos of the open board meetings will be put on the site.
“The possibilities for residents are endless,” Goldstein said. Goldstein said that it was accomplished through a cooperative effort of many people, including the seven members of her committee and members of management, such as General Manager Glen Kotowski, Controller Robert Serikstad and Cindy Hopper.
