FCCA puts artists in space

Flushing Council on Culture & the Arts (FCCA) manages the historic Flushing Town Hall, and they’re making space available - both office and selling space.
The group is a member of the city’s prestigious Cultural Institutions Group along with such institutions as the Metropolitan Museum of Art, Lincoln Center and Carnegie Hall, and Affiliate Member of the Smithsonian Institution.
In addition to providing gallery and performance space, FCCA is seeking local craft artisans to submit their work for sales consideration in the Gift Shop located in the Hall, at 137-35 Northern Boulevard in Flushing.
Crafts submitted for consideration must be of the highest quality and can be in a variety of mediums, including pottery, jewelry, fiber art, artist’s books or fine cards, according to FCCA.
The Gift Shop Committee will evaluate all work submitted, based on available space and the shop’s needs. Applicants should submit a “bio of your work as an artist” along with their submission.
A commission will be charged for all sales, with the proceeds used to support FCCA. Artisans who submit work should hear within two weeks, they say.
Flushing Town Hall also announced that there is internet-ready office cubicle space available for rent to non-profit arts organizations or individual artists in any discipline. There is also private off-street parking available at an extra cost, according to FCCA.
To submit work for consideration in the Gift Shop, or to inquire about the office space, call Deputy Director Cathy Hung at 718-463-7700, Ext. 235, or email chung@flushingtownhall.org.
