Child Center reading grant

The Child Center of New York, a non-profit organization in Woodside, received a check for $10,000 for a reading program on Wednesday, December 10.
The after-school reading program helps children in elementary and middle school resolve their reading problems, said Linda Henley, director of development an external affairs at the organization.
“We are totally thrilled because it’s a competitive award - they do not give out these lightly,” Henley said about the grant, for which the organization applied.
The check was presented during the organization’s annual holiday party at Terrace on the Park, in Flushing Meadows-Corona Park.
Located at 60-02 Queens Boulevard, The Child Center of New York provides after-school, daycare, tutoring and mental health services to children in the borough.
