‘Gift of Sight’ program

Pearl Vision, located at 75-37 31st Street in Jackson Heights, hosted a get-together and fundraiser for the “Gift of Sight” program on Saturday, December 13.
Since 1988, the program, through which people can donate their old eyeglasses, offers “free eye care, glasses and vision screenings to more than four million people around the world, wherever Pearl Vision is located,” according to Joanna Tonchuck, manager.
At the event, where Mr. and Mrs. Claus showed up, there was free food along with gifts, screenings and even pix with Old St. Nick. One hundred and fifty pairs of glasses were collected.
The Jackson Heights Pearl Vision location (718-205-5797) opened in September, and will be hosting a grand opening celebration within the next few months, said Tonchuck.
There is also another location at 102-22 Atlantic Avenue in Ozone Park. To learn more, call, 718-846-1144.
