Street renamed for church

Councilmember Hiram Monserrate joined with community members, church leaders and parishioners in renaming 32nd Avenue and 103rd Street in Corona, Leverich Memorial Church Way, recently.
Leverich Memorial Church of Corona is one of the oldest parishes in Corona and this year celebrated its 100th anniversary. Founded and named after church founder Charles Leverich, the church is currently led by Reverend Peter Herron, Pastor.
“It is an honor to re-name this street in recognition of this historic church, a church that is in our great borough, the borough where religious freedom was born,” said Monserrate. “Today, I also call upon the Landmarks Commission to take the necessary steps as to ensure that Leverich Memorial Church becomes a City and National Landmark.”
