Kenneth Dickson

Kenneth Dickson of Whitestone passed away suddenly on March 4.

Loving son of Richard and Maryann. Devoted father of Matthew. Dear brother of John and loving grandson of Julia Miccio. Adored uncle of Diana, Aleksander and Zachary.

Arrangements were handled by the Martin A. Gleason Funeral Home in Whitestone. A Mass of Christian burial was held at St. Luke’s R.C. Church. Internment was at Mt. St. Mary’s Cemetery.

Rose Cassia

Rose Cassia, 98, a 15-year Bayside resident, passed away in her sleep on March 4.

Family members say she had been relatively active, out-and-about in the neighborhood up until about three weeks ago when she suffered a fall that triggered a slight stroke.

“Rose was a truly beloved mother, grandmother and great grandmother . . . always the life of the party at family gatherings,” said grandson Peter Klein.

Born September 10, 1910 in New York City, the seventh of 10 children, Cassia grew up around what is now East 45th Street and Second Avenue and worked as a seamstress and dressmaker in Manhattan.

For many years, she helped at the family business, a Bronx carting company (T & C Carting), founded by her father.

She is survived by two daughters, seven grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.

Arrangements were handled by the Frederick Funeral Home in Flushing. A funeral Mass was held at Sacred Heart Roman Catholic Church. Interment was at St. Raymond’s Cemetery in The Bronx.

Ruth Weiner

Ruth Weiner of Flushing passed away on March 8. Beloved wife of the late Sidney. Devoted mother of Jacqueline Horowitz and Karen Turkel. Proud grandmother of Adam Turkel. Adored great-grandmother of Jason Zachary Turkel. Also survived by many loving nieces and nephews.

Arrangements were handled by the Martin A Gleason Funeral Home in Flushing. Religious services were led by Rabbi Greg Ackerman. Cremation was at Fresh Pond Crematory.
