LaGuardia Kiwanis donates pediatric trauma kit

The LaGuardia Kiwanis Club presented a child-sized Kiwanis Pediatric Trauma Center (KPTC) Trauma Kit to the LaGuardia Airport Port Authority Police EMS Unit at their most recent meeting on Thursday, July 23. Accepting for the LGA PA was Kenneth D. Honig, C.E.M., Police Inspector & Commanding Officer. Also at the event was KPTC President Joe Corace (Past Kiwanis NY District Governor).
The Kiwanis Pediatric Trauma Kit is a child-sized ambulance equipment kit which was compiled to meet most on-scene emergency needs of children. The kits are donated to fire departments and ambulance services under the auspices of the local Kiwanis clubs in each community.
North Shore University Hospital and the New York District of Kiwanis international created the Kiwanis Pediatric Trauma Center at the hospital in 1991, merging the Kiwanis commitment to serve children and local communities with North Shore’s commitment to medical excellence, outreach, and education.
There are over 200 Kiwanis Clubs in New York State alone. Their mission is?“To change the world one child and one community at a time.”
Doris Mellina, President of the LaGuardia Kiwanis Club, said that they will be sending 22 underserved kids from the community to camp for one week in the beginning of August.
