Deepdale Pool makes a splash for charity

Stanley Waller was a remarkable man who worked at Deepdale Pool in Little Neck and volunteered at the Long Island McDonald House on the campus of Schneider Children’s Hospital.

When he passed away, the Deepdale Gardens Community Center decided to memorialize Waller in a manner he would appreciate – they created fundraiser in his name, for his favorite charity.

The 2009 Stanley Waller Swim-A-Thon to benefit The Ronald McDonald House of Long Island (RMH-LI) was held on Wednesday, August 5 at the pool, at 58-25 Little Neck Parkway in Little Neck.

The Ronald McDonald House of Long Island is a ‘home-away-from home’ for families who are caring for seriously ill children undergoing medical treatment in area hospitals.

The event was a resounding success, with 22 participating swimmers who raised over $1,200 for RMH-LI.
