Why did you decide to run for City Council? Giraldo explained that he decided to run for City Council because he was chosen by several "leaders in the community" as fit to run for City Council because of his experience as a business owner. Giraldo said that the district he is in is a “diamond in the rough district,” in that if issues such as education, health care and quality of life were resolved, the district would be able to “polish the community and make it better,” he said.

What are two major issues affecting your community? Of all the issues that Giraldo said affect his community, small business and education are what stick out in his mind. With small business, he calls it an “eco-business,” in that it is the “most fragile to not succeed.” He feels that improvements should be made to small businesses in order to make them succeed and profit. Regarding education, Giraldo said that improvements are necessary. There are a “huge amount” of single parents living in his community, and he pointed out there is lack of after school programs for kids. Giraldo wants improvements in all areas and to make sure that his area is represented the right way and involved the community. He thinks he can bring the community together, which he does not believe currently exists.

What’s the first thing you would focus on if elected? If elected Giraldo would like to create a forum involving all communities in his district and figure out what issue his constituents believe should be tackled first and create goals to do so. His commitment to his district he says is at “110 percent.”
