Police nab throat-slasher in Jackson Heights: DA

JACKSON HEIGHTS — A Jackson Heights man is behind bars after allegedly slashing another man’s throat during a fight, the Queens district attorney’s office said.

Around 3:20 a.m. Nov. 8 in front of 103-11 39th Ave., Benjamin Cazares, 30, allegedly pulled out a box cutter and cut another man’s throat open, the DA’s office said. The victim was taken to a local hospital where he was given 31 stitches, the DA’s office said.

Cazares was charged with assault and weapons possession and held in lieu of $500,000 bail, the DA’s office said. His next court date is Nov. 23.
