BOURBON STREET SANTA 12-31

Dashing through the snow

A little piece of the North Pole landed on Bourbon Street – the Bayside eatery that is – when Santa and his helper Cindy set up shop there recently, with the help of the firefighters of Ladder 167 and Engine 320.

After alighting from their escort and dashing through the snow, Santa and Cindy took gift requests and photos with kids and their families at the Bourbon Street annual Santa Sunday Brunch.

Owner Mark Boccia and Chef Joseph Cannella have continued their long-standing tradition of giving back to the community at the New Orleans-flavored establishment, located at 40-12 Bell Boulevard. In addition to gifts and live entertainment for the kids there were bins for collecting toys and warm clothing.

“The entire staff really gets into it,” said manager Laura Altimari. “We’ve been doing this for at least 10 years,”

“I’ve been doing this for about 500 years, ho, ho, ho,” laughed Santa, who sounded remarkably like Bob Reid, president of the Bayside Little League.
