A gathering of Eagles

There are some groups from which a member never really leaves. The U.S. Marine Corps is one – another is the Boy Scouts of America, the highest of which is Eagle Scout.

On Sunday May 2, City Councilmember and Eagle Scout Dan Halloran stopped in at an Honor Court ceremony at St. Nicholas Greek Orthodox Shrine Church in Flushing, to greet the newest local member of that select group, Basile “Billy” Galitsis of Troop 268.

Halloran, who also shares membership in the Order of the Arrow – the National Honor Society of the Boy Scouts – with Galitsis, presented him with a City Council Citation and commended him for “the leadership and hard work he displayed to earn the honor.”

“Once an Eagle, always an Eagle,” said Halloran, who remains active in scouting.
