Rotary Club of Southwest Queens

New Hyde Park

COMMUNITY INVOLVEMENT: Dr. David Reich, 54, has been a Rotarian for 28 years. Originally, he was a member of the JFK Rotary and then the Richmond Hill Rotary, which about 15 years ago became the Rotary Club of Southwest Queens. Reich has served as president, and was elected vice president. Of his community involvement, he said, “When I do something good it makes me feel good. I love to serve the community and give of my time, efforts and expertise.”

PERSONAL: Reich has been married for 28 years and the couple has two children, a boy and a girl, ages 20 and 24.

JOB: “Dr. Dave,” as he is called, is a chiropractor and director of Richmond Hill Chiropractic, located at 86-10 117th Street.

Additionally, he is staff chiropractor at Jamaica Hospital, where he teaches spinning for employees. He also teaches the aerobics classes at LA Fitness in New Hyde Park.

“I used to be a couch potato,” he said. “But I decided to change my life and now I’m very much into health.”

He writes a free concert newsletter and blog that lets people know free upcoming musical events in Brooklyn, Queens, Nassau and Suffolk Counties. If you’d like to receive the newsletter, contact Reich at drdreich@aol.com.

BIGGEST CHALLENGE: For Reich, it’s “working with patients who are for the most part indoctrinated with [the idea of] medicine.” He said that he shows them that ailments don’t necessarily have to be cured through drugs or surgery.

FAVORITE MEMORY: “I have so many,” he said, but notes that his son’s bar mitzvah and daughter’s bat mitzvah were extremely proud moments for him.
