Kids make art in park

On Saturday, June 5, the 2nd Annual Kew Gardens Kids Art in the Park, at Kew Gardens Cinemas Park, drew about nearly 100 children of all ages, who participated in arts and crafts, even making their own puppets, painted three murals and had a day of fun.

Organized by local artist Carla E. Reyes, Carol Lacks and Mandy Gor, TD Bank Kew Gardens branch manager, the free event ran from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Seven Explorers from the 102nd Precinct and Officer Johnny Becerra, who runs the Explorers program, were also on hand.

“It was a great hit with the kids,” said Gor, who hosted an Origami workshop.
