The temperature is not the only thing that’s hot these days.
The Queens Economic Development Corporation (QEDC) in cooperation with the Queens Borough President’s Office unveiled their “2010 Discover Queens–It’s Hot All Summer” promotion, featuring special programs at cultural institutions and attractions throughout the borough.
Queens Borough President Helen Marshall joined representatives from the New York Mets, United States Tennis Association and leaders from a number of cultural institutions at Citi Field on Tuesday, June 1, to let residents and tourists know that Queens is open for business.

Marshall talked about how residents could begin their day in Long Island City by visiting the P.S. 1 Contemporary Art Center and Noguchi Museum and then hop onto the No. 7 train to Flushing Meadows-Corona Park where they can catch a Mets game, a U.S. Open Tennis match or visit one of the many museums and cultural institutions located in the park.
As part of the 2010 Discover Queens–It’s Hot All Summer promotion, local attractions are offering special discounts throughout the summer in the hopes of attracting more customers.

In addition to the special discounts at a host of local attractions, the Mets will host a Discover Queens Day at Citi Field on Saturday, July 10, when the team battles one of its biggest rivals, the Atlanta Braves. The Mets will also promote some of the different activities and attractions throughout the summer, according to Dave Howard, Executive Vice President of Business Operations.
“We are very, very proud of our home borough and we want to do whatever we can to bring as many people into visit all that we have to offer,” Howard said.
