As we now approach the heart of the Atlantic hurricane season, are we ready? The last major hurricane to strike this region was Hurricane Gloria on September 27, 1985. It struck this region as a strong category 1-2 storm, causing moderate damage in the amount of 900 million dollars.
Since major hurricanes infrequently strike this area, many people are not too concerned with being adequately prepared. But it is very important to have emergency supplies and an emergency plan in case evacuation is necessary. We cannot and should not take Mother Nature for granted – ever!
