Man tells cops, ‘I feel stupid for driving so drunk’: DA

A man was arraigned and released on his own reconnaissance after he flipped his car after allegedly driving drunk.
The incident happened on November 28 at the intersection of Metropolitan Avenue and 80th Street. Joseph Hartwig was pinned inside his Chevy Suburban, and when police and emergency crews rescued him, he “had a strong odor of alcoholic beverage on his breath, his face was flushed, he had watery eyes, was swaying on his feet, and had slurred speech.”
The DA said Hartwig refused to submit to a chemical test, but told police, “I was driving. I had a beer. I feel stupid for driving so drunk.”
