Taste buds are being satisfied as Queens residents get a fresh taste of Green Line Organic, an upscale family-owned organic store in Forest Hills.
Located at 72-13 Austin Street, Green Line has been in business in Forest Hills for only six weeks, but has been well received by the community, according to owner Ingrida Mickute. The company itself has been in operation for the past five years, with other locations in Ridgewood, Astoria, and Inglewood, New Jersey. Mickute said another store will open in January in Rockaway Park, New Jersey.
“Everything in the store is number one quality, fresh, natural, local, and a lot less expensive than other competitors such as SS Natural,” said Mickute. “Whatever is available – organic and local – we get it. If none of that is available, we also have conventional produce.”
Mickute described Green Line as a “mini version of Whole Foods but much less expensive.” When asked what sets Green Line apart from other competing businesses, Mickute said the availability and selection of organic, fresh fruits, vegetables, and other produce make Green Line a better bet, in addition to the close, personal attention given to customers.
“We’re not a big, huge giant company so sales are perfect for customers,” she said. “We listen to them and help, something customers may not get if they go to a larger chain store.”
In addition to fruits, vegetables and other produce, Green Line also houses an all-natural deli, sushi department, and aisles full of other groceries, such as cereal and snacks. Green Line is also open 24-hours-a-day, seven-days-a-week, making the store widely accessible to customers.
Green Line’s motto is “organic, natural, local, and inexpensive,” which Mickute said helps aid the business in its success. She adds that Green Line carries the same exact selection as seen in Whole Foods or Trader Joe’s, but for a much cheaper price.
“We are family owned and operated and offer natural and local produce for our customers,” said Mickute. “We have reasonable prices for everything and offer anything you can imagine.”
Green Line is currently offering customers who spend $12 or more a free carton of all-natural, omega-3 eggs. For more information on Green Line, call 718-997-7774. – Alexa Mae Asperin
