Maracas restaurant on Jamaica Avenue fed 65 needy families on Thanksgiving and wanted to organize a toy drive for Christmas. So, in conjunction with police officers from Patrol Borough Queens South Community Affairs, about 300 toys were collected. These were distributed to local shelters and needy families.
There was also food, holiday music and special guest Santa Claus for all who attended.
“It was beautiful to see the children’s faces light up when they saw Santa and received their presents,” said Pandit Narain, owner’s dad.
“What really touched me was that the whole family got involved,” said Police Officer Josie Gonzalez.
